Bio
Hi I'm Adam. I am a photographer born and raised in Warwickshire, England. Photography in all its permutations has been a lifelong interest of mine, and while I have always taken photos with film, it is only since the arrival of the digital age and the purchase of my first pocket Pentax that my interest has been kindled into the full on passion it is today. I was given my first Canon digital SLR camera at the end of 2007, and quickly came to enjoy the balance such a system provides between quality, portability, and versatility.
Growing up I was fortunate enough to have been able to travel to a variety of international destinations (including a two-month period living in a hammock in the Belizean jungle) and these journeys helped crystallise my love for new experiences and visiting new places. It is perhaps partly for this reason that I ended up at university nearly five-hundred miles from home, spending half a decade living in the coastal town of St Andrews in Scotland. As a student of the history of art, surrounded by award-winning beaches, the world-famous golf links, centuries of culture, architecture, and tradition, I found myself perfectly placed for developing my passion, and increasing amounts of my spare time began to be spent out and about with my camera, scouring the area for those engaging points of view really capable of bringing a location to life.

My photography is a mix of the planned and the unplanned; the thought out and the spontaneous. Ansel Adams stated that a photograph is not taken, it is made… and in the case of much of my landscape and food photography I agree. Yet I also ascribe to Cartier-Bresson’s idea of the ‘decisive moment’, forever keeping an eye out for those fleeting moments to which the camera can give lasting value. In the case of landscape photography, these two notions often go hand in hand, with planning often having to adapt to capture the natural world in its best light. Wherever possible I seek simplicity, attempting to highlight the appeal of a scene without unwanted distractions. The natural world provides more wonder than a single person could possibly hope to see or digest during their lifetime. My goal is simply to share my experience of those special moments I have witnessed with as many who care to stop and look…
