Welcome to Wellington and District Camera Club's website.
Wellington and District Camera Club is a well-established club based in Somerset and draws its members from Wellington and surrounding area.
The club has around 40 members and meets in the upstairs lecture theatre in the New Science Block, Wellington School, on Wednesday evenings between September and the end of May, starting at 7:30pm.
Here are a few of the things we enjoy at our meetings:
•guest speakers show their work
•competitions and battles
•practical photography sessions
•travelling exhibitions
•talks by our own members
There are also a number of events for members during the summer with trips to places with photographic potential!
Club members are encouraged to enter the Club competitions and contribute work to external competitions and regional exhibitions.
New members are always very welcome. Just come along to a Club night. Our members range from those thinking of buying a camera to very experienced and well travelled photographers.
Interest is spread across both film and digital media, with audio-visual using digital projection a new venture. The club now owns and operates a new state-of-the-art digital projector and associated equipment. This complements a full range of slide projectors and studio lighting, all of which are fully used during the club year. Tuition is freely given to all club members.
We try and remember that even experts were beginners once, and help and advice is always available.
While we take our photography seriously, we never forget that it should also be fun, and we pride ourselves on our friendly and informal atmosphere and members are encouraged to go to the local Arts Centre for a drink after club sessions.
The club is affiliated to the Western Counties Photographic Federation, (W.C.P.F.) and also to Wellington Arts Association, (W.A.A.) .
